What a busy summer! WILLCO has been diligently working away at numerous projects this season. One, in particular, has our team very excited. Denyse McGriff and Rob Guttridge attended the Architectural Heritage Center’s “Riches of a City” Heritage Auction last fall. All proceeds from this event aid the AHC and their efforts to preserve our cities historic homes, neighborhoods, and traditional commercial areas. With Denyse and Rob’s generous donation, they won a $3,000 design-build package from WILLCO. With their winnings, they have decided to rebuild the detached garage at their 1912 bungalow style home.
Denyse and Rob live in the historical McLoughlin neighborhood of Oregon City. Prior to starting any work on the home, WILLCO’s concept sketch must first pass certain criteria judged by the City of Oregon City Historic review Board. This neighborhood takes great pride in the homes that occupy it, staying true to the original architecture and providing the utmost in historical preservation is an absolute must for this project.
The goal for this design is to rebuild the garage in the style of the original architecture so it is congruent with the existing home. We must do this while also meeting current building codes.
The drawings have been passed on for review. Sit tight, as soon as we receive approval, we’ll let you know!
