WILLCO Painting & Construction, Inc. is proud to be a lead sponsor for the Architectural Heritage Center’s 2011 Heritage Home Tour.  This tour showcases some of the most beautiful homes in Portland, designed and built by world-renowned architects.

The tour will be on Saturday, July 30, 2011 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Proceeds will benefit the Bosco-Milligan Foundation and its education programs, advocacy efforts, and collection stewardship.

Below is some information on the homes in this year’s tour.  WILLCO specializes in the kind of historical renovation and specialty painting seen here, and we take pride in updating older homes with care and respect for their style and construction.

The Lewis H. Mills House was built in 1916 in Portland’s Nob Hill neighborhood. It was designed in the Colonial Revival style by Boston architect Charles Coolidge.

Built around 1900, the Samuel W. King House is located in the King’s Hill neighborhood. It was also designed in the Colonial Revival style, although no architect has yet been identified. Although not built for him, the house is most associated with Mr. King, who was Portland’s first Superintendent of Public Schools.

The large Arts and Crafts style Henry Hahn House was built in 1906 and designed by noted Portland architect Emil Schacht.

The Chester Benson House was constructed in Portland Heights in 1926 and designed by noted architect Joseph Jacobberger in the Tudor Revival style. Benson was the son of prominent businessman and philanthropist Simon Benson.

Located in the Willamette Heights neighborhood, the Burkes-Belluschi House was completed in 1948. This Mid-Century Modern-style home was designed by famed Portland architect Pietro Belluschi. It was the last house he designed before becoming the Dean of the MIT School of Architecture and Planning in Boston, and was said to be his favorite.
